Connecting ordering channels and delivery at Mama Trattoria
How Mama Trattoria transfers orders from Wolt, Lieferando, Uber Eats and SOUS to its POS system and controls forwarding to Wolt Drive by order source.
Multiple ordering channels give guests more ways to reach a restaurant. Within the operation, however, these orders need to come together. For Mama Trattoria, MERGEPORT connects order intake to the POS system and extends the workflow with provider-specific forwarding to Wolt Drive.
Two tasks need to be distinguished: the POS system needs the order for further processing. For delivery, it must also be clear which service will handle the job. These tasks are connected but follow different rules.
Integrating delivery platforms into the POS system
Orders from Wolt, Lieferando and Uber Eats are transferred to Mama Trattoria's POS system through MERGEPORT. The connected delivery platforms thus come together in a shared processing path. The order data is available in the POS system without the team having to enter each order there again.
The integration layer translates the different platforms' data for the POS side. This makes a consistent restaurant workflow easier, even when orders come from different sources.
Adding SOUS as another ordering channel
Orders from SOUS also reach the POS system through MERGEPORT. This incorporates the additional channel into the same basic workflow: the order originates with the respective provider and is passed to the POS system.
This consolidation matters for restaurant operations. An additional order source does not need to create its own manual path to the POS system. At the same time, the source of the order remains relevant to subsequent decisions, particularly when organising delivery.
Forwarding selected orders to Wolt Drive
At Mama Trattoria, MERGEPORT supports provider-specific forwarding of orders to Wolt Drive. Which orders take this path depends on the ordering provider and the rules defined for it. Forwarding therefore does not mean passing every order to the same delivery service.
Wolt as an ordering platform and Wolt Drive as a delivery service play different roles. The ordering channel determines where the order arrives; the routing rule determines whether Wolt Drive is involved in delivering it. This separation makes it possible to combine several ordering sources with a selectively deployed delivery service.
A connected restaurant workflow
Mama Trattoria thus connects incoming digital orders, their processing in the POS system and provider-specific handoff to Wolt Drive. The scope of integration follows the restaurant's actual operating workflow: what matters is which orders go where and under what conditions delivery is initiated.
