Implementation
Connecting ordering platforms to Speedy at scale
How Speedy integrates numerous ordering platforms via MERGEPORT and simplifies onboarding with headless operation, self-service and item creation in the POS system.
For POS providers, every additional ordering channel increases the task of connecting restaurants reliably. A scalable integration therefore needs both to reach many platforms and to support the recurring setup of new restaurant connections.
Speedy uses MERGEPORT for connections to Lieferando, Wolt, Uber Eats, foodora, servier.bar, ordermaxx, restablo and robin cook. The shared hub brings these connections together and complements them with an onboarding model using headless integration, self-service and item generation in the POS system.
Many platforms through one integration path
The connected services differ in their data models and technical workflows. MERGEPORT handles partner-specific translation and provides Speedy with a shared integration path. This makes it possible to build a broad range of ordering channels on a reusable foundation.
For the product team, this primarily makes ongoing expansion easier to manage. Integration on the Speedy side can stay on the same foundation, while differences between platforms are handled in the integration layer. Available functions still depend on each connection.
Offering integration within the company's own product
Headless means MERGEPORT provides the connection in the background. Speedy can embed the required functions in its own product interface. This allows the technical integration infrastructure and the restaurant's user interface to be designed separately.
Self-service supports independent setup within the intended workflows. Recurring steps therefore do not need to be organised as an individual integration project for every restaurant. Especially when many connections are being activated, an understandable, repeatable process becomes an important part of the product offering.
Generating POS items for onboarding
One obstacle at the start is the item base: the POS system needs to be able to process the items in incoming orders. Speedy uses item generation in the POS system for this purpose. Required items are created in the POS system during onboarding, reducing manual preparation work.
Item creation thus complements the technical connection with a practical setup step. Before a connection can be used in everyday restaurant operations, the ordering channel and POS system also need to align at the item level. This is precisely where item generation supports a smooth start.
Scaling through to an active restaurant connection
At Speedy, platform integration and onboarding work together. MERGEPORT provides access to the different services; headless integration, self-service and item creation support making them available to restaurants. Scaling therefore covers both the breadth of the integration offering and the path through which individual businesses can use it.
