Scaling Wolt's access to a diverse range of POS systems

How MERGEPORT opens up the long tail of POS systems for Wolt and supports collaboration with certification, monthly reviews and self-service onboarding.

An ordering platform encounters a diverse POS landscape. Alongside large providers, many smaller or specialised POS systems matter to their restaurants. This long tail presents platforms with the task of building and maintaining many different connections over time.

MERGEPORT acts as Wolt's hub to these POS systems. The collaboration connects technical integration, ongoing quality assurance and a sales path that extends through to restaurant activation.

Pursuing feature parity across many connections

As the number of POS connections grows, functional coverage becomes a shared operational task. Feature parity describes the goal of consistently supporting the agreed Wolt functions across the connected systems. Setting up order transfer once is not enough to achieve this.

MERGEPORT coordinates work on the connections. This allows functionality and further development to be coordinated across multiple POS systems. The specific functions supported remain dependent on each POS system and the scope of integration.

Monthly reviews for quality and customer success

Wolt and MERGEPORT use monthly reviews to jointly track feature parity, the state of integrations and customer success. This gives the collaboration a regular rhythm in which technical quality and use by restaurants are considered together.

The reviews make deviations and areas requiring action visible and help the partners agree on next steps. This supports both ongoing integration maintenance and restaurant support. Quality assurance thus becomes a recurring task beyond go-live.

Certification as a foundation for faster onboarding

Wolt certification supports faster onboarding based on the reviewed integration scope. It provides a shared technical foundation for further activations. Setting up each POS system and restaurant remains part of the process.

From Wolt contact to restaurant

The sales path runs from Wolt through MERGEPORT and the POS provider to the restaurant. Wolt brings the need into the collaboration, MERGEPORT connects it to the integration side, and the POS provider continues the path to the restaurant. Sales thus follows the partners who are also relevant to technical implementation.

For WinOrder, MERGEPORT has additionally developed its own self-service onboarding. It turns setup into a workflow tailored to this POS system and allows users to complete the intended steps independently. This extends the shared hub with a specific activation path.
